I have been using my Touch and Sew for forty years to make baby-children clothes, drapes, coats, Halloween costumes, you name it - struggling year in and year out with broken needles and jammed bobbins. What a quantum leap it has been to enter the market for a new sewing machine...The old zigzag idea has segued into the 21st century with a new face and awesome variations, all computerized and automatic.

After surveying the marketplace, looking at Singers, Vikings, Janomes, etc., I finally went into the Brother dealer who demonstrated the smooth Innovis-40 PRW. I loved it, but continued on my search, only to discover the PC-210 PRW. It is 5 pounds heavier, has a stronger motor at .7AMPS, more "extras" and especially more room ( 2 inches more) under the opening where I must reach to lift the Presser foot. I decided two weeks ago to buy that machine, the PC-210 PRW, from Amazon. I did not need all the extra stitches for embroidery that the PC-420 provides for 0.00 more.

The machine performs flawlessly. It is quiet and precise. Amazingly, the Presser foot moves with the contour of the fabric being sewn. I witnessed the PC-210 PRW sew through several layers of leather. I have sewn easily through four layers of quilted fabric. I love the speed control of the PC-210 PRW, while sewing with my 7 yr. old granddaughter. Threading is exceptionally simple and the automatic threader works every time. The bobbin is threaded with minimal effort and the bobbin thread is automatically drawn into the stitch when sewing begins. The automatic needle up ( or down) feature is convenient for turning corners and the reverse button ties the stitching row off easily. There is no need to ever turn the wheel to position the needle. This machine is jamb proof: it will give an error message if something is not done in the proper sequence or if the presser foot must first be lifted, etc..

The Brother PC-210 PRW makes great buttonholes; there is a special buttonhole foot in which you place your button. It uses that button to automatically make the proper sized buttonhole in one step.

I have used the front stop/go control, rather than the foot pedal to try it out. It does just fine, even though I prefer, from habit, to use the foot pedal. The PC-210 PRW will automatically set the stitch length/width, although I found the default for most stitches to be satisfactory.

I am discovering the fun of the embroidery stitches, however I do not generally need these options. I love the built-in foot holder located in the front of the machine. This compartment has molded slots for all the feet included with the PC-210 PRW. It comes with a seven useful feet. Kept in that handy compartment are many of the accessories, i.e., extra needles, bobbins, seam ripper, etc.

I am especially happy with the hard cover and the sturdiness of this machine. It is AWESOME to have all this precision at my fingertips. I have had no problems getting started, as the manual is very explanatory and explicit! I expect no problems down the road. Thank you Brother and Thank you Amazon!

This is by far the nicest sewing maching I've had in my many years of sewing. It is a delight to operate--so smooth and quiet, it doesn't vibrate or bounce at faster speeds.

It is electronic, has auto needle raising or lowering--you choose--it's easy to learn and intuitive to master. The instruction booklet is easy to understand and follow.

I love the way all the utensils tuck neatly away into an inside tray, giving the sewing machine a sleek, uncluttered look. Even the spool of thread is hidden inside the top housing! It is also easy to thread, both the needle and the bobbin. And everything, so far, has worked.

I highly recommend the Limited Edition Project Runway sewing machine!

I had this machine up and running in about 10 minutes. If you've sewed before its super simple. Runs fast and makes nice stitching. This machine is good for anyone, especially a beginner.

I've owned this machine for about 5 1/2 years and honestly, I haven't sewed a whole lot on it. I used it to recover the cushions on a rocking chair and a few minor repair jobs on clothing. It worked okay, but I had the thread break a lot and figuring out how to change the stitches was frustrating since I have only sewed on a couple types of machines before and would by no means consider myself an expert. A couple of months ago I got it out to sew a little dress for my baby girl and kept having problems. It wouldn't sew through more that two layers of thin fabric and ended up finishing the project on my sisters Limited edition Project Runway machine which is also a brother. I was happy to discover that the problem wasn't my lack of expertise when the project came together with much greater ease. Of all the machines I've read reviews on looking for a possible replacement I think the least expensive were brother, so I looked up my own machine just to make sure that I could trust reviews enough to give brother another chance with a different machine. To my relief, the reviews seem to agree with me that this machine is not great. But I am surprised to see that some think it is a good one. This makes me nervous, and I am reluctant to spend the cash for a new machine.

After 30+ years w/ my beloved Kenmore, I bought a Brother Sewing Machine, to find it doesn't use the same bobbins and there is no place local that sells them. I purchased 2 packages (20 bobbins) Style SA156 Sewing Machine Bobbins for Brother - 10 Pack.

The transaction was easy; the bobbins were here within a few days. They work perfectly in my new machine - which is about all one can say about bobbins!
Would buy again from Mr Vac & Mrs Sew - VanceVEP72 -
I'm not a fan of these plastic bobbins, but it's what my Brother sewing machine requires. I have had two of the three bobbins that came with my sewing machine break when winding the bobbin. Would buy these from Mr Vac & Mrs Sew again if needed.

I did not buy this from Amazon but I feel the need to comment anyway. I have been using this machine for almost two years - not sure how I've managed. I taught myself how to sew on this machine. Because I was such a novice, I was never positive if the issues were my fault or if the machine was the problem. I can safely say it is the machine. I agree with everyone that mentioned the thread tension. I spent hours researching how thread tension works and no matter what I did, nothing changed. My current problem is that the needle hits the presser foot. Again, I troubleshooted and it's nothing I did. I'm guessing that it might have something to do with the fact that the presser foot is so loose and can't be tightened. The manual is useless and I see no point in spending the money on repairs. I thought I was being frugal since I had no idea how to sew - big mistake! Save your money and buy something better...

I no longer even need a special project in mind to use this thread. If I need to sew on a button, I use this thread. Ditto if I am mending a blanket. Ditto if I am mending a fraying piece of clothing. Why? Because not only is this a great thread, beautiful and super strong, but it also means your hand sewing need not be very exact. You can use this to make the button stand out. Knot it on the outside instead of the inside, let the ends spill out. Voila, your mending job has made something whole again plus newly beautiful. Washes up beautifully in your machine too.

All right, so I don't have this exact machine. I have the Brother CS6000, which is pretty much exactly the same but without the cartridge-bobbin-thingy. I am just jumping in to say I agree with the experience of the previous reviewer, who said dealers are uncomfortable with this machine, and I think we can all understand why. There is little need to pay thousands of dollars for a high-end sewing machine, unless of course you can afford to, because this machine proves that excellent quality is finally available in a very reasonable price range. My other machine is a ten-year-old Bernina, which I would never part with, but it's pretty basic and I wanted to try a machine with dozens of fancy stitches and some more up-to-date computerized features. After test-driving several brands at a national sewing expo, I realized that there was no way I could afford even a mid-range computerized machine. They've just gotten waaaay too expensive. I was pretty disappointed, because I have always been a terrible sewing machine snob. Not anymore.

Around Mother's Day I found myself with a little extra cash and gave in to a sudden irrational impulse to purchase this inexpensive Brother machine, because I'd been doing a lot of free-motion sewing and didn't want to tax the motor on my Bernina, which I now know will be the last one I get to own. This Brother CS6000 was really nice looking, cost less than a cart-load of groceries and looked like a fun toy to while away a rainy weekend. When I unpacked it, I was shocked to see how many accessories were included. I sneered at the plastic feet, but you know, they work just fine, and are a snap--literally--to change. It ran great right out of the box, and the motor is amazingly powerful yet quiet. I can't say enough about the stitch selection or instructions. They are great in terms of anticipating how a person will actually use the machine, and what questions might arise. The needle piercing power is definitely equal to that of the Bernina, and the quality of the stitch itself is excellent. I just love how the computerized features work--very intuitive. In minutes you will be navigating the screen with the buttons without even thinking about it. ALSO, this machine has an amazing feature found only on much more expensive machines, which is that you can push a button and sew without the foot control. It also can be set to sew at half speed--wouldn't that be great for a beginner? I highly recommend this machine to all my sewing friends who want to enter the 21st century without going for broke. It also would make a great gift!

I have to say that I love my CS8060. I did a lot of looking and comparing and for the money I did end up choosing this machine. I am very happy with it. It is portable, runs very quietly, the bobbin load is easy, and the auto needle threader is great. I do enjoy that I do not have to use a foot/knee pedal on this machine. I have found the bluish light to be easy on the eyes. I have had no issues with the thread tension and I have made several blankets, quilts, quilted pillows, pillowcases. Neither the needle or the machine has had trouble handling layers of material in my quilting. The variety of pre-programmed decorative stitches is nice and gives a nice personal embellishment, especially when using metallic threads. This machine has had no problem handling metallic threads. I would recommend this machine to both the new and the experienced. Definitely a deal for the money. I found accessories (walking foot, 1/4" foot, sidecutter foot, etc.) at my quilting store.

I bought this machine for myself on a whim in 2008 after seeing the great reviews. I have never been the "craftsy" type, and hated Home Ec in school. The machine sat in the box for 6 months until a friend who IS a craftsy woman showed me how to make my first pillowcase. I was hooked. The machine has been humming along ever since. For the hobbyist, this is a good investment. It's sturdy with enough stitches available to have fun with, and it lets you know when it's time for an oiling, as it starts to smell a bit like a vacuum cleaner belt going bad. It's easy to access the parts that need oil, and the instruction book has good illustrations for care. I have had to change a needle and untangle a mess from the bobbin and things went well. The only negative thing is that the thread does get wrapped around the wheel sometimes and you have to stop and re-thread the needle. When I am ready to upgrade, I will get a machine that threads the needle for me. For now though, I am totally satisfied with this machine, and would recommend it for anyone. Also, the instruction books came packaged with one in English and a separate one in Spanish, so it's easy to find what you need.

First I want to say this: this is a very beginner machine. If you want to learn to sew, this is great. It's very easy to understand. It's a good little machine. I had mine for almost 2 years before I upgraded to a janome and became a better sewist. I've had zero problems with mine. It's a bit noisy, and you need a mat under it, so it doesn't shake itself off the table. But other than that, i've had no complaints. Even though I have a great fancy new machine, I am keeping my cheapo little brother for a backup.
